The topics for the GDB are: Q1. Within sociocultural theory, and particularly from a Vygotskian perspective, private speech refers to speech-for-the-self, as opposed to social speech. This private speech in classic Piadgetian theory is seen as an evidence of children’s egocentrism, whereas socio cultural theory interprets it as an evidence of children’s growing ability to regulate their own behavior. Which of these opinions would you favor and why? OR Q2. Social media (YouTube, Twitter, Facebook, etc.) is affecting language learners a lot these days especially the college students. Do you think that social media is affecting the language learners positively or negatively? Give your opinion within a paragraph of 150-200 words.
