Specifically, in the scenario you described: Process ( p_0 ) is waiting for a resource held by ( p_1 ), Process ( p_1 ) is waiting for a resource held by ( p_2 ), and so on, until Process ( p_n ) is waiting for a resource held by ( p_0 ). This creates a circular wait, which is one of the necessary conditions for a deadlock to occur. In a deadlock situation, none of the processes can proceed because each is waiting for a resource held by another process in the cycle.
