Leadership and Team Management (MGMT623) Assignment 01 Marks: 10 Due Date: January 27, 2020 XYZ is a chain of retail stores, having its branches in five major cities of Pakistan. Organization is centralized and has rigid departmentalization. As per the survey conducted by marketing department, serious issues have been observed in service quality of XYZ organization. CEO was informed that if situation remains the same, it will lead to major decline in sales of current financial year. CEO formed a team comprising of various personnel of different departments. The team has been assigned to develop and implement a plan for improved service quality. Following officials were included in the team. Manager Finance department with 15 years of experience in Finance, Manager Marketing department with ten years of experience in sales and marketing, Assistant Manager from Procurement department, two Software developers from IT department each having 4‐7 years of experience and HR executive from Human resource department. CEO appointed Manager marketing department as team lead. Following are some activities performed by the team. Team members started supporting each other as far as project is concerned. Lots of reservations of Finance manager on project budget Discussion on roles and responsibilities of team members Team building exercises In a meeting, the team documented the best practices and CEO offers them a dinner. High motivation level of all team members to implement plan for improved service quality. Disseminate information about project goals and its impact on organization Referring back to agreed rules Developing Procedures for working Serious disagreement among team members on project schedule which was prepared by Team lead in consultation with Finance Manager only.
