Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif: If We Hadn’t Been Cautious, India Would Have Lost Ten Aircraft Instead of Five
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has stated that Pakistan was aware of India’s plans in advance and the Pakistani military was prepared to respond at any moment, knowing when Indian aircraft would take off and when to intercept them and drop them into the sea.
Speaking in the National Assembly on Wednesday, he claimed that last night India launched an attack with full preparation, involving 80 aircraft.
Shehbaz Sharif said, “Our forces were ready 24/7, knowing when the enemy’s planes would take off and when we would intercept them and throw them into the sea.”
He further added, “If we had not been cautious, India would have lost ten aircraft instead of just five.”
He mentioned, “Those who claimed that Pakistan was behind in conventional warfare got their answer last night.”
The Prime Minister stated that among the Indian aircraft shot down were three Rafale jets, emphasizing that India had taken great pride in these Rafale aircraft.
Shehbaz Sharif said, “Pakistan, a country of 240 million people, is a nuclear power.” He noted that after this response, other countries would look toward Pakistan and seek help.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that on the night of April 29 and 30, the Pakistan Air Force had blocked communication from Indian Rafale jets, leaving India confused and forcing them to return to Srinagar.
He concluded, “Last night, India thought it could attack Pakistan in the dark, hiding like in the past. But thanks to the blessings of Allah and the prayers of the 240 million people of Pakistan, our armed forces gave a decisive response to India’s attack, turning this dark night into a moonlit one.”

(Shelter):
(Decontamination):

If a nuclear attack occurs, its effects can be extremely devastating. However, by taking immediate and correct safety measures, the chances of survival and minimizing damage can significantly increase. Below is a detailed explanation of what to do in such a situation:
⸻
- Initial Signs of a Nuclear Explosion
• A bright flash of light that can blind the eyes.
• A loud blast sound followed by a shockwave.
• A “mushroom cloud” may appear in the sky.
⸻
- Immediate Actions (The First 10 to 15 Minutes Are Critical)
a) Drop to the Ground Immediately:
• If you’re near the blast and the shockwave hasn’t reached you yet, lie flat on the ground.
• Face down, cover your head with your hands.
• Stay away from windows — glass shards can fly and cause injury.b) Keep Your Eyes Closed:
• The nuclear flash can cause permanent eye damage.c) Hold Your Breath or Cover Your Nose and Mouth:
• After the initial shock, the air may contain radioactive particles.
• Breathing them in can be dangerous.⸻
- Seek Immediate Shelter:
a) If possible, go into a solid building or basement:
• Concrete and earth walls help block radiation.
• Underground spaces (basements) are best.b) If you’re outdoors, move away from open areas:
• Cars, buses, or huts do not provide protection.
• Dig a trench in the ground, lie inside it, cover your head, and face away from the explosion.⸻
- Stay Sheltered:
• Remain in shelter for at least 24 to 48 hours.
• Radiation is most dangerous in the first few hours and decreases over time.
⸻
- Food and Water:
• Only consume food and water that is sealed or packaged.
• Avoid food and water left in the open, as it may be radioactive.
⸻
- Decontaminate Your Body:
If you were outside during the blast:
• Immediately remove your clothing and leave it outside.
• Shower thoroughly with soap and warm water.
• Clean nose, ears, eyes, and under your fingernails.⸻
- Stay Informed:
• Use radio or mobile devices (if networks are working) to receive official instructions.
• Follow all government or military guidance strictly.
⸻
- Before Going Outside:
• Only leave your shelter when authorities declare it safe.
• Wear a mask or wet cloth over your face.
• Cover your entire body with long sleeves, gloves, and other protective clothing.
⸻
- Long-Term Safety Measures:
• If available, use a radiation dose meter to measure radiation levels.
• If local water sources or crops are contaminated, seek alternative supplies.

BBC VerifyBBC Verify is analyzing footage that reportedly shows the wreckage and debris of Indian aircraft involved in attacks across Pakistan-administered Kashmir and other parts of the country.
One video, allegedly from the Pampore area in Indian-administered Kashmir, appears to show the remains of a fighter jet’s drop tank being recovered. These fuel tanks are released mid-flight to reduce aircraft weight, lowering the chances of being targeted.
Another video also from Pampore shows a different piece of a drop tank at another location in the same area.
Experts from the defense intelligence firm Janes believe these tanks are typically used in Dassault Mirage 2000 jets, which are operated by the Indian Air Force.
In another video post, a claim is made that debris from an unidentified missile was found near the village of Akliyan Kalan in Bathinda, a city in the Indian state of Punjab.
Justin Crump, a former British Army officer and head of the risk intelligence company Sibylline, stated that the debris appears to be from a French air-to-air missile. This type of missile is used in both Mirage 2000 and Rafale fighter jets.

“Every drop of innocent blood will be accounted for”: Pakistani Military Spokesperson
Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, spokesperson for the Pakistan Army, stated during a press conference that “Every drop of innocent blood will be accounted for.”
He said that during the night of May 6th and 7th, India targeted innocent civilians and children. “If this isn’t terrorism, then what is?” he questioned.
The DG ISPR added that Pakistan’s armed forces, in response to Indian aggression, targeted military objectives — not children like India did. “These were military targets aimed at threatening Pakistan’s sovereignty and citizens.”
He further stated, “These innocent children, who had yet to see the joys of life — are they the terrorists India targeted on the night of May 6th and 7th? This is what you can expect from India. We have seen before how India promotes terrorism through its proxies, and the evidence is before the world.”
He emphasized that when the state of Pakistan began tightening the noose on terrorists, India responded by directly carrying out acts of terror through its military — targeting innocent civilians and children. “If this isn’t terrorism, then what is?”
He also said it has now been proven with evidence how India is involved in cross-border terrorism and killings, and this has been presented to the international community.
DG ISPR concluded, “The Indian military has targeted mosques in various parts of Pakistan and desecrated copies of the Holy Qur’an. What kind of religion allows the desecration of other faiths’ places of worship and sacred scriptures?”

US ‘closely monitoring’ tensions between India and Pakistan, in touch with both sides: US
A US State Department spokesperson has told the BBC that the US is “closely monitoring” tensions between India and Pakistan.According to the spokesperson, US officials are in contact with both countries and are urging them to “move towards a responsible solution that ensures long-term peace and stability in South Asia.”
Earlier, BBC’s US State Department correspondent Tom Bateman said that the US’s failure to openly appeal for restraint after India’s recent attacks, and leaving the vacuum for other countries, reflects the fact that US-India relations have grown in recent years, while Pakistan has remained relatively diplomatically isolated… a country with which the US has long had complicated relations.
Tom Bateman, in his analysis, said that the White House appears to be deliberately giving Delhi the freedom to respond freely. However, this policy may not last long.
As the airstrikes began last night, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio echoed President Trump’s statement, expressing hope that the conflict would “end soon” and that the US would "work towards a peaceful resolution

Indian attacks are ‘shameful and cowardly aggression’ targeting peaceful civilians: Ahsan Iqbal in conversation with BBC
Pakistani Federal Minister Ahsan Iqbal, in an interview with the BBC, described India’s airstrikes as “shameful and cowardly aggression,” which, he said, targeted “peaceful civilians, including women and children.”Speaking on the BBC World Service’s News Hour programme, Ahsan Iqbal said that India’s claim that it had targeted terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir was a ‘complete lie’ and that India was ‘trying to mislead the world.’
He asked, “Who are the victims? Can a seven-year-old child be a terrorist? Can a five-year-old girl be a terrorist? Can a housewife be a terrorist?”
When asked about Pakistan’s response, Ahsan Iqbal said that the Pakistani government has given the armed forces “the authority to determine the appropriate time and method themselves so that an effective response can be given.”
