ISLAMABAD: The renowned Monal Restaurant in Islamabad has announced its closure, following a directive from the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
In a statement posted on their Facebook page, Monal shared, “It’s time to say goodbye. In compliance with the honorable Supreme Court’s directions, we will be closing on September 11, 2024.”
The restaurant expressed heartfelt thanks to its patrons for their support and loyalty over the years, saying, “Since our opening in 2006, it has been a privilege for the Monal family to serve and promote the beauty and hospitality of Pakistan. This journey has been filled with countless memories and achievements, but now, it’s time to say farewell.”
The Supreme Court’s decision mandates the closure of all restaurants operating within national parks, including Monal, located in the picturesque Margalla Hills National Park. Issued on June 11, the ruling requires that all such establishments be fully dismantled within three months, stressing that commercial activities are not allowed in national parks, while also recognizing the need to relocate the affected businesses.

In a tragic incident, a German national was attacked and robbed by armed men in Lahore, a city renowned for its hospitality, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The incident occurred in the northern cantonment area where 27-year-old Berg Florain was camping in a park when armed men assaulted him.
Narrating his ordeal to the police, Berg said the assailants stole an expensive cellphone, cash, and a camera worth Rs500,000 before fleeing.
Eyewitnesses reported that the severely injured foreigner, who was barely conscious, managed to reach the Rangers’ office on a bicycle before collapsing.
They quickly took Berg to a Rangers’ hospital for treatment. Later, they escorted him to a police station where an FIR was registered based on his complaint.
Meanwhile, the SP Cantonment stated that investigations are underway and the culprits will soon be apprehended.

On 22 July 1986, Haji Khair Muhammad Khan Kakar Son of Sarfaraz Khan Kakar gifted 2 Acre (8093.71 square meter) of land on the North West fringe of Hanna Lake to Hayatullah Khan Durrani known for caving and Mountaineering Adventure sports in Balochistan. Hayatullah Khan Durrani established Hayat Durrani Water Sports Academy (HDWSA) on the eve of 14 August 1986 Pakistan Independence-Day the Balochistan’s first and only Rowing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, rough swimming and boating academy where all such facilities regarding Rowing, Canoeing, Kayaking, Sailing, rough swimming training, events equipment’s and boating provides voluntary freed from cost to the youth members at Hanna Lake.[6]

On 6 July 1990, 40 people were killed and eight injured when an overcrowded local tourists boat capsized in Hanna Lake. Most of the victims were on holiday. Another boat was wont to rescue the victims.[7]

One thing that i discourage that place is that our elders tells us that if we go 20 30 years back,this place was in its true natural form and it had been wonderfull. it’s a standard perception that anywhere which human has not discovered yet remains in its natural form. People donot care and do the littering allover the place. Junks of garbages might be found at the corners of the market place. Dust thanks to traffic has caused pollution. At saif ulmalook people throw rappers and leftovers within the lake. There must be some body to require responsibility and these actions must be taken care of.

According to the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report 2017 released by the World Economic Forum, the direct contribution of travel and tourism to Pakistan’s GDP in 2015 was US$328.3 million, constituting 2.8% of the total GDP.[9] According to the World Travel and Tourism Council, the direct contribution of travel and tourism to Pakistan’s GDP in 2016 was US$7.6 billion (PKR 793.0 billion), constituting 2.7% of the total GDP.[10] By 2025, the government predicts tourism will contribute ₨1 trillion (US$7.1 billion) to the Pakistani economy.[11]
In October 2006, one year after the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, The Guardian released what it described as “the top five tourist sites in Pakistan” to help the country’s tourism industry.[12] The sites included Lahore, the Karakoram Highway, Karimabad and Lake Saiful Muluk. To promote the country’s unique cultural heritage, Pakistan launched the “Visit Pakistan” marketing campaign in 2007. This campaign involved events throughout the year including fairs and religious festivals, regional sporting events, arts and craft shows, folk festivals and openings of historical museums.[13]
In 2013, 565,212 tourists visited Pakistan contributing only $298 million, which has risen to over 1.9 million tourists in 2018.[14] By comparison, Pakistan’s domestic tourism industry is estimated at 50 million tourists who travel in the country on short trips usually between May to August.[14] The largest tourism inflow of tourists are from the United Kingdom, followed by United States, India and China.[15][16]
