**“By God’s Grace…”:
Former India cricketer Vinod Kambli left fans concerned after a video surfaced on social media, showing him in a frail condition. The 52-year-old was seen struggling to walk, requiring assistance to be safely escorted off the road. The footage, which quickly went viral, showed Kambli appearing disoriented and unsteady.
In response to the viral video, Kambli, who played 117 international matches for India, shared a health update on X (formerly Twitter). In the video, he gave a “thumbs up” and reassured his followers, saying, “By the grace of God, I am fit and fine and surviving.” He also mentioned that he still feels capable of returning to the field and batting.
Vinod Kambli, a childhood friend of cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, had a prolific career, playing over 100 ODIs and 17 Test matches for India. The left-handed batsman amassed nearly 10,000 runs in First-Class cricket, with a highest score of 262.
Meanwhile, in international cricket, Team India suffered a 0-2 defeat in the three-match ODI series against Sri Lanka. After the first match ended in a tie, Charith Asalanka and his team secured victories in the remaining games, marking Sri Lanka’s first bilateral ODI series win over India since 1997. In the third ODI, India struggled to chase a target of 249 on a spinning pitch at Premadasa, ultimately being bowled out for just 138 in 26.1 overs.
This series was also the first tour for former India batter Gautam Gambhir as the new head coach. Despite the disappointing results, India captain Rohit Sharma praised Sri Lanka’s performance, stating, “Sri Lanka played better than us. We need to evaluate our approach, especially against spin, but credit goes to them for their excellent cricket.”
